Julian Barker
Background
Julian Barker was admitted to the bar in 2017 and has a practice centred on general civil litigation. He has a particular interest in administrative law and alternative dispute resolution and is scheduled to complete mediation training with Conflict Dynamics in September 2026.
Julian holds a BA, a BA Honours (in History), and an LLB from Rhodes University, as well as a Postgraduate Diploma in Labour Law Practice from Nelson Mandela University.
Julian’s legal practice is enriched by a foundation in corporate governance, compliance, and project management drawn from his previous roles in the NGO sector. He is a former Honorary Secretary of the Eastern Cape Society of Advocates and has served as an external examiner in Civil Procedure at Rhodes University.
